Videos and DVDs on the lives and natural habitats of North American birds by Michael Male and Judy Fieth.
Particularly informative are the range and migration maps based on NASA satellite imagery. Highly recommended.Judy Fieth begins the narration, and she welcomes me to the music and color of warblers. No kidding. From the opening images, I m hooked. The photography is gorgeous. Fieth and Male give us habitat shots with excellent ambient sound for context. Then they zero in on some of the most intimate bird photography I ve ever seen. Susan Wider, review on Surfbirds click to read full review.I

Species does not occur. Often this is caused by regions of sparse eBird data, such as northern Minnesota, northern Maine, much of Nevada, sparsely-settled regions in the upper Great Plains, Montana, and elsewhere. In some other cases (south Florida for example), the habitat information seems to be insufficient to understand the landscape as it relates to bird occurrence. In all of these cases, however, we believe that more eBird checklists from these regions will improve the model ability to

Fortunately they are such persistent and prolific breeders that they can stand the strain from natural enemies if man will give them half a chance. Stray cats, or domestic cats run wild, are doubtless the most destructive enemies of quail. They catch and devour enormous numbers of both young and old birds, as they hunt them day and night. Mr. Forbush (1927) gives some striking illustrations of this and speaks of one big cat that is said to have killed more than 200 bobwhites. Dogs that are

Probably part of one. Visits to distant feeders take too much time away from the eggs. When the chicks hatch, they need protein to grow, not sugar, so their mother spends most of her time catching small insects and spiders for them. During this period, I personally still see a male or two at my feeders, but typically only early or late in the day. I suspect that once their breeding duties are over, males tend to abandon territories and forage more widely to fatten up for migration. After the
