Be aware of any crosswinds or currents..Once in position on the wall, loop your bow and stern lines through the closest drop cables (see picture). DO NOT tie the line, just loop it loosely around the cable and hold the end. This canal opened in 1843 to join lac Saint-Louis and lac des Deux-Montagnes, at the mouth of the Ottawa River. Today, pleasure boating has replaced commercial boating.

A National Historic Site of Canada, this canal was opened in 1849 and allows watercraft to link Lake Champlain with the Saint Lawrence River. Today, pleasure boating has replaced commercial boating.

This canal was opened in 1895 to bypass rapids between lakes Huron and Superior, thus completing an all-Canadian route from the head of Lake Superior to the Atlantic Ocean.

Reach Fenelon Falls the main channel rounds Sturgeon Point and follows the west arm of Sturgeon Lake for 5.5 miles. Sturgeon Point on the north shore is a long established cottage community with lavish homes.
